Closely resembling A. alternata, A. tenuissima also produces dark, fuzzy colonies, especially under chronic moisture conditions. It is often seen in kitchens, bathrooms, or areas with leaking pipes. Large spore loads can readily become airborne, aggravating allergic responses or asthma. Identifying and repairing the underlying moisture source is the most effective way to halt its spread.
